Seychelles

Paradise on Earth is what they call this archipelago that lies in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a thousand miles from Africa. Seychelles' warm waters, high standards of service and friendly people draw visitors year after year. Islands like Mahè, Praslin, La Digue, Aldabra and Desroches are every bit as enchanting as their names. Wherever you go, you will always find gorgeous beaches and upscale restaurants. For honeymooners, the romance of Seychelles promises the experience of a lifetime.

Mahè is by far Seychelles' largest island and home to its capital, Victoria. Here you will find the international airport, the fishing and commercial ports, most of the population and several resorts, hotels and casinos. Its powdery white beaches, lush vegetation, coconut and cinnamon plantations and forested peaks make the Seychelles an enchanting, magical place. Surrounded by coral reefs, the clear azure water is perfect for water sports. Take an island helicopter tour for a spectacular bird's-eye view of the island.

Seychelles is one and a half hours behind Indian Standard Time. The currency is the Seychelles Rupee. English, French and Creole are widely spoken.

The famous Intendance beach in southern Mahè offers half a mile of powder white sand and huge breakers. Explore the Anse Major nature trail that follows part of the rocky coastline of northwest Mahè and leads to the small secluded beach of Anse Major. Visit the popular resort beach of Beau Vallon.
