At sunset every evening, watch the world’s smallest penguins, the Little Penguins emerge from the surf and waddle towards their sand dune burrows. This is one of Australia’s oldest wine producing regions. Just over an hour’s drive east of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is home to over 90 vineyards and 35 wineries. It is best known for its success with pinot noir, fine chardonnays, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz varietals. Visit the Produce store at Yerring Station winery, showcasing the fine wines from this region. Visit the Coldstream winery, then end the afternoon at the 100 year old Yarra Valley Dairy, where you will sample fresh, handmade cheese.
