Great Britain

Great Britain

Soft meadows of clover and heather. The sophisticated delights of London. Majestic castles, complete with resident royalty. A thriving literary and arts scene. Serene lochs, veiled in gently swirling mist. Great Britain’s shifting moods and multi-cultural milieu have played host to millions of happy globe trotters each year. Shopping, fine dining or the opera; no matter what sort of experience you seek, you are certain to find it here.

City Information

London

Even in its customary steady drizzle, London inspires awe in the heart of the first time visitor. The city’s diversity escapes definition, striking an interesting contrast with a landscape steeped in history and tradition. No other city offers such a wealth of accessible history and dynamic modernity. The result is a metropolis that is eternally fascinating.

Manchester

The largest city area in northern New England, it is fast overtaking London in terms of popularity and infrastructure. It serves as the economic and cultural capital of New Hampshire, and is home to one of New England’s largest airports. The city has several fascinating museums that reflect its role in the pioneering developments of the Industrial Age, including the children’s science museum; the Currier Museum of Art, a world class gallery that has recently finished a major renovation; the Millyard Museum; the historic Palace Theatre; the 10,000-seat Verizon Wireless Arena; a state-of-the-art AA baseball stadium, and a multitude of community-organised ethnic fairs and festivals.

Windermere

Originally named Birthwaite, the town of Windermere is now an extension of Bowness-on-Windermere, just a short distance uphill from the shores of Lake Windermere, which has the distinction of being England’s largest natural lake. Three miles north-west of Windermere is the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre at Brockhole, a beautiful lakeside mansion, set in award winning landscaped grounds with superb views.

Edinburgh

The buzz of Scotland’s capital city offers quite a contrast to the peaceful tranquillity of the surrounding Lothians region. Take your time exploring the city’s museums and galleries, shop at the department stores, and dine at the excellent restaurants and bars. Host to a vibrant annual music festival, the city has witnessed several art and culture movements.

Glasgow

History has it that Glasgow was known as the ‘second city of the British Empire’ throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Thanks to its perfect location on the Clyde River, Glasgow has traditionally been a ship building city. The city today is as far removed from the old times as is possible; with its vibrant live music scene and pub culture.
