Mauritius

Mauritius will uplift your soul, making you feel truly blessed. A contrast of colours and cultures, the island, set in an impossibly turquoise sea, is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Mauritius, a melting pot where past and present are smoothly blended together, offers an essential beauty that will compel you to return to its shores time and time again. Your stay here will remain engraved in your memory forever

City Information

North Island

Visit the Royal Botanical Pamplemousses gardens, known for their collection of indigenous and exotic plants. Visit the Historic Marine, where 18th century model sailing ships are made to scale by hand. The harbour of Port Louis lies sheltered in a semi-circle of mountains. Its main square is Place d’Armes with its rows of palm trees. Close by are some fine French colonial buildings, namely the Government House and the Municipal Theatre. Also around are cathedrals, a mosque, the Supreme Court, some 18th century barracks and a Natural History museum. Explore the local market as well as the Caudan Waterfront, famous for its shopping.

South Island

Explore the bustling little town of Curepipe, the island’s main urban centre, a pleasant town that lacks the atmosphere of Port Louis but has good shops and restaurants and is famed for duty-free diamonds. Between Curepipe and Floreal is the spectacular Trou aux Cerfs, an extinct crater 85 m. deep and 200 m. wide, from the rim of which one enjoys an extensive view of the island. Also see the Grand Bassin Lake and the beautiful Black River Gorges. Visit Chamarel, where you can see seven-coloured earth and enjoy a magnificent view of Le Morne. The nearby Chamarel Waterfall emerges from the moors and is startlingly beautiful.

Ile Aux Cerfs

This is the definitive island retreat, where you can spend several days without even noticing the passage of time. Spend your days relaxing on white sandy beaches, swimming in crystal clear waters, or snacking on fresh seafood at the several restaurants fringing the beaches.
